The Velvet Plate began in 2023 with two friends who couldn't stop talking about food long enough to finish a meal.

Harshit Soni and Aman Agrawal had spent years eating their way through everything from roadside stalls to fine dining tables, always landing on the same complaint: most restaurants made you choose between comfort and elegance. You could get soul food or you could get a beautiful plate - rarely both. That gap became the whole idea.

What started as long conversations over shared plates turned into a shared obsession: build a place where a butter chicken tastes like home but is served like it matters. Where a family dinner and a date night could sit under the same roof, each one still feeling like it was made just for that moment.

Together, they built The Velvet Plate on a simple belief: a great meal isn't just about what's on the plate - it's about who you're sharing it with, and how it makes you feel long after the table's cleared.
